Director of Music

Summary and Requirements: The Unitarian Universalist Church of Spartanburg, a diverse, liberal religious congregation ( www.uucs.org ), is looking for a part-time Director of Music with the interest, enthusiasm and skills to work with and empower congregants of varying ages and abilities. The ideal candidate will be a trained musician proficient in playing the piano; be flexible and embrace diversity of musical expression; and have familiarity with current and emerging music.

S/he will work closely with the Minister and the Worship and Lifespan Faith Development Committees in planning the music program; be in attendance for most worship services; accompany the service; direct an adult choir; and arrange for occasional guest musicians/musical programs. Being comfortable with Unitarian Universalist values and principles is vital (See also www.uua.org )

The position is for four (4) hours per week for 10 months (2 months off in the summer). Start date for the position is immediately after position is offered and accepted, subject to approval by the Board of Trustees.
