Annual Picnic
Our annual picnic is held anywhere from Memorial Day Weekend to the middle of June. It is a potluck held in the grassy area between the church and Hatcher House. Even in the hot weather, there are enough big shade trees to make us comfortable. This year we had some unofficial guitar music and singing, along with "Soak the Board" and a fund-raising lottery. The picnic marked the beginning of our minister's two-month summer vacation.

Building Community through Social Events
Getting together for a church-wide social event is another way of increasing community. Every year we have two combination fund-raisers and socials (the Auction and the Canvass Kick-off) and two major socials (the Holiday Dinner and the Annual Picnic). Additionally there are other potlucks, lite bites, and parties, like the the recent outstanding and elegant reception for our guest musicians.

Holiday Dinner
Our holiday dinner in 2010 was held on Saturday, December 11. The church supplied the turkey, and side dishes were brought by members and friends. In addition, we have Wonderful Wednesday meals and potlucks, and on occasion, lite bites after a Sunday service.

Auction Dinners
and Events
Members and friends sign up (first come first served) to participate in dinners or other events given by or sponsored by donors. For example, a donor will volunteer to prepare an Oriental meal in his/her home for ten people. The event pictured here is a wine-tasting party given at a downtown winery.

Sunday Morning Snacks and Coffee
What is a UU Sunday without Coffee and Conversation!
The Hospitality Committee provides coffee from 10:00 to 11:00 as well as following the worship service. If you too would like to help, please find the Snacks and Coffee sign-up sheet in the kitchen on a cabinet door—very close to the directions for making the coffee! We start the coffee around 9:30.
The UUCS Board of Trustees has continued with “Bread and Board” this year. They signed up to provide snacks on the first Sunday of each month, and be available during the 10 o’clock coffee time to meet, greet, and discuss our questions.
On the other Sundays the Hospitality Committee provides minimal snacks. Please feel free to add to the snack table any Sunday. Anyone who is able to “officially” bring snacks on a particular Sunday or help set out snacks will find the Snacks and Coffee sign-up sheet posted in the kitchen on a cabinet door. We place snacks on the table at 10:00.
