Reservation and Calendar: To reserve a room for your meeting or event and have your event posted on the church website calendar, email: communication@uucs.org or office@uucs.org using the word “calendar” in the subject line. Include contact name and information, event date, time, number of persons or rooms needed, ongoing or one time activity, if on ongoing - ending date. Lead time - at least one week before use of room and any additional time needed to get promotional material in church publications. Example: Room reservation for church event, such as Spring Picnic, is made by emailing To: communication@uucs.org Subject: Calendar Spring Picnic Church publications: When you receive an email from the Office Administrator confirming that your event is on the church calendar you may then publicize your event. To submit your information to a church publication, email: communication@uucs.org using the word Web, Unison, Happenings, and/or Update in the subject line. The subject line can include all publication names. Example: To communication@uucs.org Subject: Happenings Unison UUpdate Annual Spring Picnic Topic: Include the topic of your submittal as well as the publication title in the subject line of the email. This extra information will further ensure all submittals are included. Room number: Do not include room information in article or submittal to publications. Room assignment could change, causing confusion. Check web calendar and paper calendar in Fellowship Hall for room numbers. Note - A room is always reserved on church web calendar prior to publishing event information. Deadlines: Website - one week before event; Unison - midnight of the 24th of preceding month; Happenings - Sunday night 11:00 PM; Bulletin/Weekly UUpdates - Wednesday 11:00 PM. Happenings-Special editions Please identify Happenings submittals as “special” in subject line, along with topic, as submittals are not read until day before regular edition goes out. Example: To communication@uucs.org Subject line: Happenings SPECIAL death/memorial service John Smith Special editions are limited to unusual and unplanned occurrences, such as a death, a tragedy in a family, etc., which need to be published immediately. If other news or corrections fall within the regular weekly Happenings time frame of publication, it will be included there. Web Master: To contact the Webmaster about using a blog on our church website for your event or committee, email: communication@uucs.org using the word “Webmaster” in the subject line. Bulletin Boards: To submit your information for the church bulletin boards in the fellowship hall or help create a flyer or sign up sheet for bulletin boards, email: communication@uucs.org using the word “Board” in the subject line. Deadline: recommend at least month before event. Internal Reporters: To request a church reporter to help you write an article about your event or activity for the Unison, email: communication@uucs.org using the word “Internal” in the subject line. *External Publicity: To coordinate with the Communication Council to have an article about your event or activity written, reviewed and submitted to publications and media outside of the church, email: communication@uucs.org using the word “External” in the subject line. *All External publicity must go through either the minister or the communication council representative prior to the communication council submitting the article or publicity to local media. Face Book: To submit church information and photos to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spartanburg Facebook group, become a friend of that group and submit following Facebook recommended steps. The automated computer system used to forward your email to the proper church person is SPELL SENSITIVE, and can be in upper or lower case.
