STEWARDSHIP AND FUND RAISING "Kindle the Flame" 2012-2013 Annual Fund Drive Kick-off Event Catered Luncheon with Special Music Sunday, February 12, following the Worship Service RSVP at annualfundteam@uucs.org or 585-9230 All members and friends have received their mailed invitation to this event. As this is a catered luncheon, please remember to RSVP by February 1. Following a short, lively musical program, there will be a brief presentation about the Annual Fund and the importance of its success in enabling our religious community to live out our vision and mission next church year, working with our newly settled minister. At the end of the presentation, all will be invited to make their annual financial commitment in the form of a pledge. To sign up for child care, email dre@uucs.org, or sign up on the Child Care Sheet by the coffee in the Fellowship Hall (pizza will be provided). It's Not Too Late to Sign Up . . . FOR BiLo BOOSTERS PLUS
You can still sign up fot our Bi-Lo Bonus card program. As you may remember, the system operates on a school-year calendar and it is necessary to register and get a new number each year.
Here is what you need to do right now:
1. Click here for the bar code.
2. Take the bar code to your nearest Bi-Lo.
3. Remember to use the card whenever you shop at Bi-Lo-even if you are just picking up a few things.
We get one percent of participating household purchases up to a maximum of $3000 . . . but only if we are using eligible cards. Like most things in life, there are some rules that must be followed, but if we can all get in the habit of using that card every time we run into Bi-Lo, the Church will benefit tremendously. Our efforts during the 2010-11 year resulted in about $460, but if we all are more systematic about using the card we can do much better than that.
A member of our congregation says, “I admit, that as I became aware that our church benefitted, I began to stop by for a few items and then gradually realized that over all (and especially on Wednesday with a five-percent discount to “seniors”) Bi-Lo really does have the most economical prices. The gasoline “perks”(for every $50 spent in groceries, a person gets five cents a gallon off at a Shell or Sphinx station-and these can accumulate to 60 cents a gallon) also are an extra benefit to people. So we can feel good about promoting Bi-Lo in our church.”
