Volunteers Needed for Building and Grounds

We have had two organizational meetings to discuss what the church needs in a Building and Grounds committee, and we have another one scheduled for Saturday, October 29, at 10:30 a.m. We have a good-sized pool of volunteers available to make repairs around the church, and we’ve got people committed to handling specific needs. For instance, Norm Schoss has agreed to handle all insurance-related issues, and Kris Krystyniak has agreed to coordinate comprehensive safety and security issues.

Here’s a job we need filled: We need someone to schedule and coordinate an All-Church Volunteer Clean-Up Day! We’ve had these days before, and they produce great results. But we need a Clipboard Person, somebody to schedule volunteers, assign jobs, make sure we have needed supplies, and generally be on hand as a point person overseeing it all. (We definitely want to spruce the church up before the arrival of our next minister!)

We are also looking for a couple of people to act as co-chairs of the B&G committee. We envision one person with hands-on B&G experience, and one person with organiza-tional and administrative skills.

This committee is hugely important to the future of our church. Please contact P.K. if you have any interest in helping out this group. Please also consider providing input at our next meeting on October 29.


Still Seeking Caring Volunteer Coordinator for
New Pastoral Care Team

For the past year this congregation has had a great ad­dition to what the minister provides in pastoral care- the Pastoral Care Associates. They were trained by and worked closely with Rev. Rollins to provide support for a number of people in challenging situations. Marilyn Col­trane and David Drum have coordinated this new way of providing for the needs of members.

The area of service that needs strengthening this year is coordination of Caring Volunteers (which include all Members and Friends). Without a current chairperson for the Care Committee, Rev. Bunyard will convene the Pas­toral Care TEAM which now will include:

1. Caring Volunteer Coordinators who will focus on transportation, food, and sending cards,
2. Pastoral Care Associates,
3. Memorial Service Coordinator, and
4. Joys and Concerns Coordinator.

We are especially in need of 2-3 volunteers who will do the things the Care Committee used to do: send cards, coordinate food for short term needs, and arrange trans­portation for doctor visits.

The next meeting of of the Pastoral Care Team will be Thursday, October 13, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Room 5. Rev. Bunyard will be facilitating the meetings until a chairperson comes forth. Please consider volunteering to take over the coordinating of cards, food, and transporta­tion this year. Your time, energy and talent is needed.
